Modern Dance Club CCA specialises in Contemporary Dance and it aims to nurture and develop students to become all-rounded dance performers. In this CCA, the students will learn to appreciate the different dance forms pertaining to Contemporary Dance. Students will understand that a choreographed dance is a creation of movements to match a dancer’s feelings and purpose. They will be given the opportunities to express their feelings and creativity through movement and rhythm during practices or performances.

Our Modern Dance Club has been very honoured to be invited to showcase the students’ talents in external performances such as Mounbatten GRC National Day Celebration, Dragon Boat Festival Celebration etc. and school events such as Prize-Giving ceremony, Racial Harmony day and International Friendship day celebrations in the past few years. Besides that, Modern Dance CCA has also been taking part in Singapore Youth Festival International Dance biennially. Through this platform, the students will have the chances to showcase their talents and creativity through the dance performance.

Objectives

To nurture students to express their emotions, thoughts and creativity through dance choreography
To enable students to learn the techniques of Contemporary Dance such as floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation of Modern Dance
To enable students to learn values of teamwork, discipline and perseverance
To provide platforms for students to participate in school events, external dance performances and Singapore Youth Festivals (SYF)

CCA Schedule / Venue:

Every Tuesday and Friday (2.15 p.m. to 4.15 p.m.)
