Students in ELDDC went through a series of modules from debating and drama to public speaking in the second semester. The modules provided students with the necessary skills to equip them in becoming confident speakers.
In the drama module, students were introduced to oratory and drama skills – breathing and vocal techniques, poise, posture and non-verbal communication skills. The module also gave students opportunities to practise on improvisation exercises and other drama techniques including creating stage presence, movements, gesturing, facial expression and voice projection.
The debating module allows for students to be trained in formulating and presenting arguments to go through motion which included teaching students on how to present evidence and structure debate arguments.
In public speaking, students are given training on speech craft which focuses on speaking fundamentals that aims to develop students to become better speakers and gain confidence in all aspects of communication including written and impromptu speeches as well as active listening.
