The Learning for Life Programme which started in 2015, is MOE’s initiative to promote the school’s area of strength through a pervasive programme At Tanjong Katong Primary, sports play a significant role in our students’ holistic development. Team Sports Excellence@TKP is our school’s Learning for Life Programme (LLP). The programme aims to develop the skills and values through sports that can also be applied beyond primary school years and is carried out in a two-pronged approach – Active Lifestyle Programme and the Sports Pursuit Programme.
The Active Lifestyle programme aims to reach out to all students from Primary 1 to 6 as it is integrated in the PE curriculum, PAL (Games Modules), and TKP’s Sports Days (Lower Primary Sports Day and Games On!). Through this programme, every student will form strong foundations in tactical and technical skills and values and skills necessary to play in a team.
The Sports Pursuit Programme focuses on four main CCAs namely, football, netball, hockey and floorball. Through this programme, students are identified through Talent Identification Process (TIP) and channelled into the four main CCAs.
Through Team Sports Excellence@TKP, our students will acquire the following skills sets and value systems.
- Passion for life – through life long enjoyment and participation in physical activity;
- Joyful sense of camaraderie in teams/groups – through understanding the importance of working with others and having social skills to work with others.
- Spirit of positivity - through perseverance and resilience in overcoming challenges
