The TKP CCA Programme

Mission

To allow students to discover their interests and talents as they develop into well-rounded individuals instilled with values of leadership, discipline and team spirit.

Vision

L.E.A.P - Learn. Engage. Appreciate. Play

Approach

Exposure and development of talent are the two main driving forces behind Tanjong Katong Primary School’s CCA programme and there are two categories of CCAs for students to choose from - Main and Modular CCAs.

The main CCAs are conducted throughout the year and hence, require a more intensive year-long commitment from the students that is necessary in order to develop the students’ potential in their chosen CCA.

Modular CCAs, though also conducted throughout the year, are split into two modules, with each module consisting of 9 sessions. The main aim of the modular CCA is to introduce students to the particular activity and develop some basic skills, hopefully giving them an advantage should they wish to pursue it at a higher level in the future.

Where talent development is concerned, the Sports Pursuit Programme, a component of our Learning for Life Programme (LLP), ensures that students are identified through Talent Identification Programmes (TIP) and channeled into the four main team sports – Football, Netball, Hockey and Floorball. Likewise, TIP is conducted for the performing arts and students with the potential are given the opportunity to join the CCA at a very early stage. The early identification of such students and the specialized training programme allows for them to be better prepared for their Zonal and National competitions, as well as the biennial Singapore Youth Festival

Time and again, the students in the school’s main CCAs have done themselves and the school proud by achieving numerous awards in inter-school competitions. Apart from such achievements, the school is even more proud of the effort that these students have put in and the individuals they turn out to be. Many have certainly embodied the school values in their quest to develop themselves in their chosen fields.

Ultimately, the category and exact CCA that a student opts for is up to the individual student and their parents. As far as possible, the school will try to accommodate every students’ choice of CCA.

  3. All CCAs are open for registration. Balloting will be conducted for CCAs which are oversubscribed.
  4. Students who have opted for Modular CCAs must complete two modules over the course of the year. They must select one activity from Module 1 and one from Module 2.
  5. Pupils are not allowed to switch CCAs without the consent of their CCA teacher-in-charge. Provisions will only be made with the permission from the HOD PE/CCA.
